Kartikay Shastri
Writer. Experimentalist. Reader.
Like many others, I was once a person without plans or goals, waking up each day unsure of what to do. However, everything changed for me in 2015 when I got my first job and discovered my "Why." Since then, I have been engaged in a wide range of experiments exploring the realms of knowledge, art, and the science of the inner self.
Through these endeavors, I have achieved some personal advancements, which may sound like boasting, but they are the small commitments that have shaped who I am today:
Becoming an early riser: Despite not being a morning person, I recognized the value of the few hours before work and committed to making them count. For the past many years I have consistently been waking up before 7 am.
Balancing work and life: I used to believe that having a job meant the end of a fulfilling life. However, I changed this perception by taking control of my remaining time and now live harmoniously alongside my work.
Reading 50 books in a year: While I've always enjoyed reading, it wasn't until 2016 that I started taking it seriously. I focused on personal growth and successfully completed a challenge of reading 50 books in a year.
Embracing running: Running has become one of the most passionate pursuits in my life. It has brought tremendous personal growth, strengthened my willpower, and taught me to break through barriers. On 2nd February 2017, I ran a half-marathon.
Cycling: The joy of cycling has always resonated with me. I covered over 1300 kilometers between January 2016 to December 2018, commuting between home and the office.
30-day writing challenge: In October 2016, I embarked on a challenge to write 500 words per day and created a philosophical blog. I successfully published 30 blog posts during that period.
Circuit training: To fulfill my desire for fitness and self-improvement, I adopted a cross-fit plan in January 2017, focusing on high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Since then, I have accumulated 1000 minutes of workouts.
Weight loss: Through consistent exercise, running, and cycling, I managed to shed 9 kilograms of weight in the year 2018
Embarking on meditation: In the past, I struggled with finding inner peace. However, I have recently started exploring various meditation techniques and strive to maintain a meditative state throughout the day, rather than just for a few minutes or hours.
Developing a dozen habits: Alongside rising early, I have cultivated several other habits such as expressing gratitude, practicing compassion, maintaining cleanliness in my surroundings, and consuming healthy food. These habits have contributed to a more organized and fulfilling life.
And of course, I published 2 novels:"The Night Out: 4 friends, 6 places, and one long night." & मुक्तिधाम (Muktidham) पीड़ा में अनंत मौन की गाथा
I'm currently working on my third book, a collection of short essays set to publish in November 2024.
I take pleasure in crafting my weekly newsletter, "The Sunny Sunday Newsletter," sent to my subscribers every Sunday. Every word in it is carefully chosen to provide you with wisdom and insights.
These accomplishments have humbled me and instilled patience and resilience. While I stumble along the way, I always strive to get back up. I am not a perfectionist, nor am I a great philosopher. I continue to learn new things about myself and the abundant life we live.
Join me on this journey of self-discovery, invest in your own growth, and savor the journey as you progress towards your destination.
